這些經典的職場英文，其實是錯的！

 

但其實辦公室裡流傳的常見英文，有許多是以訛傳訛，還可能引起老外的誤會。下次開英文會議、寫e-mail給客戶，千萬別再用這些句子！

 

1. Old customers are incredibly important in our line of business. 老主顧在我們這行裡非常重要。

2. My company is on Fuxing S. road. 我公司在復興南路上。

3. The director wants to make sure if Janice will be out of the office next week. 
主管想確認Janice下週是否不在辦公室。

4. Our manager is out of work. 我們經理下班了。

5. I would like to double confirm the schedule for next week. 我想再確認一次下週的行程。

 

 

答案：

1. Regulars are incredibly important in our line of business.

中文說老客戶或老顧客，真正的意思是經常光顧的客人，英文則是說"regular customers"，或者更簡單一點，就用regulars。

 

2. My office is on Fuxing S. road.

這裡不應用company，而要用office。company和office不同之處在於company指的是組織、團體，而office是一個空間、場所。

 

3. Confirm確認「一件事的正確性」，make sure是確認「一個動作會發生」。

主管要確認的是「Janice不在辦公室」這個消息是真的，而不是要確保她不會在辦公室，用confirm。

 

4. Our manager has got off work.

下班的正式說法是get off work/duty，口語一點則直說be off。很多人都會說成out of work，殊不知那是「失業」之意。

 

5. I would like to reconfirm the schedule for next week.

美國人大概知道double confirm是什麼意思，但是他們不這麼講的。Double confirm不是英文，這說法據說是新加坡傳來的，講慣了就以訛傳訛，夾雜在我們的中文英文裡。
