如何帶老外遊台灣？快學這5句英文 - 今周刊

美國《國家地理雜誌》一篇「2015年全球最佳旅遊地點」，台灣居然名列其中。學會這5句英文，讓你帶著老外在羊年春節六天的假期中，暢遊台灣。

中文有句諺語：「外來的和尚會唸經。」身在台灣的我們，身在福中不知福，不知道台灣有多美好，就讓外國的雜誌來訴說吧！美國《國家地理雜誌》（National Geographic）的一篇「2015年全球最佳旅遊地點」（Best Trip 2015），列出全球20個2015年一定要去一探的地方（must-see places）；令人有些意外的是，台灣居然名列其中，與日本、瑞士等國並列！

何不就用這篇文章，帶著外國客戶在羊年春節六天的假期中，暢遊台灣。文章中介紹遊台灣的「When to Go」、「How to Get Around」、「Where to Stay」、「Where to Eat or Drink」、「What to Buy」等等，吃喝玩樂遊福爾摩莎又兼學旅遊英語：

When to Go 何時去台灣？

* lunar [ˋlunɚ] (a.) 農曆的；月的
* lantern [ˋlæntɚn] (n.) 燈籠；提燈

《國家地理雜誌》推薦了幾個遊台灣的時間點，其中之一是農曆正月15號，也就是台灣農曆年節尾聲的元宵節（Lantern Festival）。它建議的應該是南投的「元宵燈會」。

How to Get Around 如何在台灣趴趴走？

Traveling by train is the best, and most affordable, option. The Taiwan Railways system loops all the way around Taiwan, making it possible (with transfers) to visit most regions.
（搭火車遊台灣是最佳也最負擔得起的選項。台鐵系統環繞台灣，可以造訪大部份地區（要換車）。）

《國家地理雜誌》推薦搭乘台鐵火車遊台灣最為實惠，因為台鐵系統幾乎可以到達台灣的任何角落。所以囉，先做好功課，再帶著外國客戶搭台鐵火車到處趴趴走，台鐵的排骨便當不能錯過。喔！對了，便當的英文是lunch box。

Where to Stay 在哪裡住宿？

Try both styles in the Complex suite, a Western-Japanese hybrid with sliding wall dividers creating two separate sleeping areas. Take the hotel shuttle from the Chiaohsi train station (advance reservations required).
（試試西式與日式混合的複合式套房，有可滑式隔間門分開兩個寢間。從礁溪火車站可搭飯店接駁車（要先預約）。）

《國家地理雜誌》推薦到礁溪住宿一晚，享受溫泉與日、西式合併的複合式套房。外國客戶對於睡「榻榻米」（tatami）應該感到很新鮮吧！但是《國家地理雜誌》提醒你要「提前預約」（advance reservations required），其中的advance是多益測驗的高頻字，有「前進、進步、晉升」的多重字義，更有「預先」之意，常用片語是「in advance」

例句：
We have to inform our clients in advance.
（我們必須預先告知客戶。）

Where to Eat or Drink 在哪裡吃喝？

Snack your way through Taipei’s ubiquitous street food markets, such as Shida Night Market and Raohe Street Tourist Night Market.
（一路吃遍台北到處都有的街市小吃，例如師大夜市與饒河街觀光夜市。）

* snack [snæk] (v./n.) 小吃、零食
* ubiquitous [juˋbɪkwətəs] (a.) 到處存在的

《國家地理雜誌》推薦台灣到處都有的路邊小吃，尤其提到台北的師大夜市（Shida Night Market）與饒河街觀光夜市（Raohe Street Tourist Night Market）。「夜市」的英文是night market。

What to Buy 買什麼？

Shop for Chinese medicinal herbs; textiles and fabrics; and tea, dried fruits, and candy in the storefronts lining Taipei’s Dihua Street.
（選購中式藥草、紡織品與布料；迪化街店家門口都陳列著茶、水果乾、糖果。）

《國家地理雜誌》推薦頗有東方味的台北迪化街，這裡原本是布料市場，但現在可是春節期間必遊的年貨大街景點。

解析：
本題的正確答案是(B)。依句意來看，應該是「即將召開的討論會所需要的資料，最晚要在兩天前印好。」本句的主詞是「All materials which are required for the upcoming seminar」，其中的which are省略掉了。

本題的片語in advance（預先）與答案(B)的required都在前述《國家地理雜誌》一文中的「Where to Stay」，飯店要先訂房的「advance reservations required」提到過。
